There is an interesting article from Church Central with tips for publicising your church and church events in the local press.

Some of the tips offered by the article;

  • Always be polite, even if they get the details of your story wrong.
  • Offer newsworthy copy. Send releases that relate to some current event of local interest or that apply to more than just your church members.
  • Don’t tell a reporter anything you wouldn’t want to read in the paper the next morning.

And don’t forget, you can always use a link to your church website in any press release, making sure you refer to the event on the site as well.
